Drew Dushkes
Founder & Principal Consultant
Drew Dushkes is a strategic advisor and former senior U.S. federal official with a decade of experience at the intersection of government, commerce, and international affairs.
A native Angeleno, he founded Dushkes International to bring his federal expertise home to California, advising businesses and the professional services firms that serve them on the regulatory, trade, and investment challenges that define today's markets.
As Senior Advisor at the Department of Commerce's CHIPS for America program, Drew designed and executed the first-ever international strategy to support the development of the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem, leading engagement across the Indo-Pacific and advising foreign governments on investment strategy and supply chain security.
Prior to Commerce, Drew served as Senior Advisor at the Department of Transportation, where he led engagement on emerging transportation technologies and cross-border regulatory policy, conducted investment screening on behalf of CFIUS, and helped shape landmark trade provisions under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. He has also administered tariff policy at the U.S. International Trade Commission.
Drew holds a Master of Science from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has lived and worked in South Korea and speaks Spanish, French, and Korean.
Our Mission
Bringing Federal Policy Expertise Beyond the DC Beltway
Federal policy increasingly defines the competitive landscape, from tariffs and export controls to foreign investment reviews and shifting regulatory frameworks. Businesses need advisors who understand how Washington works and can translate policy signals into strategic decisions.
As one of the world's largest economies, no state is impacted more by federal regulatory complexity than California. Its industries sit at the center of global supply chains and its businesses are well positioned for export-driven growth, but realizing that potential requires navigating shifting tariff regimes, export controls, and federal regulatory requirements. Likewise, California's diverse and innovative economy is an ideal gateway for international companies looking to enter the U.S. market, but a foreign direct investment can hinge on the success of a national security review or incentives application.
We work with clients to address these critical gaps, proactively mitigate risks, and create competitive advantage. By pairing a decade of federal government and international relations experience with deep understanding of California's business and political landscape, we offer clients strategic clarity, actionable intelligence, and the right connections at every level of government and industry. This insight comes from having directly shaped economic, trade, and international policy, not just observed it.
Because Dushkes International works directly with clients on developing tailored strategies and not just general analysis, every engagement is built on direct access and accountability. Our clients receive straightforward counsel, clear-eyed recommendations, and the focused attention that comes from selective, high-value engagements.
